itty bitty crochet star tutorial

 I am a firm believer that if I can think up a crochet pattern,
especially one so easy,
then probably somebody else has too.
I don't believe that simple crochet patterns belong to anyone.
 This is my first ever crochet diagram.
Isn't it pretty!
 It's pretty self explanatory really if you already crochet.
 I used some kool cotton from my stash.
to begin
(I'm using uk terms)
chain 5, slip stitch into the first chain to create a ring.
{1 dc, 1tr, 3ch, 1tr into the ring} repeat 4 more times
finish with a slip stitch into the first dc.

With a darning needle weave in the ends.
To produce a pointy star,
pin each 3chain point to a folded towel/old cushion
and spray with water and leave to dry.
For a stiffer star I like to use spray starch,
found in the laundry section.
And there you have it.
I strung mine on a piece of twine,
but you could hang each one individually..
..or make pretty parcels like below!
In answer to Deborahs question
I used a 4mm hook :0)
Why not try my recycled christmas cards tutorial in my side bar,
any card will do!

Ah! The important words in your post are...."if you already crochet." Guess what- that is a skill I don't have, but wish I did! I am even more regretful that I didn't get my mum to teach me!

Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial. I just finished my first star and it's charming! I'm wondering what size hook you used for yours? I live in the US but was easily able to switch to US crochet terms. Love your blog! Deborah (ostiebug@yahoo.com)

Love the pattern and the twine instead of a plain chain works well with the white yarn.

For your readers who don't know how to crochet, check out video tutorials on Youtube. [crochetgeek or bobwilson123]

Thought I'd add the Us terms for the stitches just in case -
US -> UK

sc=dc
dc=tr

hope this helps

Oh. Completely adorable. I have some very rudimentary, very new crochet skills. I MAY be able to manage this. Keep your fingers crossed for me (and many thanks for sharing it).

These are too cute! I'm trying to find projects that use materials I already have and your stars are perfect. I have more yarn than is possible for me to store. Thank you for sharing the pattern!

These a simple and gorgeous! Will definitely give them a whirl :) For all you guys who are sad about not having the skills...You Tube tutorials or better still, find a nice patient person to learn from. I think it's easier in person. I learned from You Tube 6 months ago, now I have a massive big granny square blanket!!
