tis the season...

 ....of the raspberry!!
I have shared this recipe before,
but it's so good I'm rolling it out again!
And as you can see
thats how much we ate yesterday!
This is the easiest recipe
and a great way to use fresh rasberries.
I imagine it would be good with cherries too,
I liken it to a bakewell pudding.
ps. just wanted to add that I used less raspberries,
and it turned out well enough.
Whilst I'm on the subject of fruit,
here are my gooseberries that I picked on my birthday.
It was the second picking of approximately 1kg
which I made into 3 jars of gooseberry sauce,
as I had already made 3 jars of jam.
The sauce I just added some sugar to stewed the fruit,
which made a pale green sauce on the right.
The jam recipe was a Mary Berry
which I found  here.

I'm fearing another week of painting..
and no patching of the fabric kind
:(

The cake looks delicious and I bet it would be good with custard! You must make time for patching this week as well as the more mundane painting! x (I took your advice about the gingerbread men!)

Thanks for sharing your recipe, it does look good. :) Yummy looking gooseberries too!
You must make some time for patchwork this week, 'all work and no play etc. etc.'!!

As I said in one of my recent posts, my favourite food is almonds and anything almondy. I love cakes with ground almonds and I will certainly make this! Thanks.

Raspberries - my favourite! Have you any recipes for cherry plums and mulberries - that's what is in my garden?

Mmmmm, that looks delicious, and it just so happens that I have loads of fresh raspberries growing in my garden .......

Sadly our raspberries have just about come to the end - it has not been the best of years for them, which is a bit disappointing. And the new gooseberry bushes are struggling a bit - I am hoping that the plums will make up for it all!

That cake looks simply divine :)

Your raspbery cake looks tasty. I've been using some ground almonds in some of my cake making with cherries. It's not something I usually include.
Our raspberries finished some time ago and there weren't many of them.

MMMMMMMmmmmmmm tasty, I am very late to the Goosberry - I always thought it was a very sour fruit. I recently bought Gooseberry and Elderflower Jam at a garden open day and its the best thing ever on toast! xxxx

I've already made two of these cakes this year, and as I didn't have as many raspberries for the second one, I added a bit of jam too. I may even put a splash of almond essence in the next one, to make it even more Bakewell like. We've also had one gooseberry crumble so far, and last night we had a rhubarb and strawberry one, with good old thick Birds Custard. It's very satisfying having a good harvest, isn't it. x
