I've just this minute bought these cute cake plates.
I love their shape, what do you call an 8 sided shape?
I also love the green, quite an unusual find in a charity shop.
They were marked up at 99p, but I gave £1.50, sometimes my generosity astounds me!

You know what this means now?
More cakes!

I bought this old apron for the vintage fabric not realising it was a full size one, so maybe I'll wear it whilst... making cakes!

Another pint sized item that nearly didn't get purchased is this nice ribbed vase (arrangement of sweet williams courtesy of this gardens life). I have a thing for ribbed/textured things, don't get any filthy ideas ladies!

As promised the finished quilt!!

I am quite pleased with the finished quilt, though I would have preferred no binding, but as the quilting stitch was so close to the edge it would have been tricky.

I'm glad I chose a patterned reverse,
(inspired by Marys quilt I think)
I was going to use white, but now I have two quilts in one.

Oh heavenly machine quilting, this was my first go with the machine, I like the way it gives a more professional finish. As I sat down to begin it dawned on me that it would turn out a stars and stripes quilt, much to the amusement of the old man. Such excitement!

It is a quilt to keep our toes warm in the winter, so during the summer I might use it elsewhere, which is another bonus for using a beachy style stripe that seems to go with the rest of the house.

Thought I'd catch up with some blogging as the sun has disappeared, not that I'm a fair weather gardener! Anyone who grows roses will agree that its going to be a great year for blooms, so good in fact that I'm able to pick some for the house which I love.


The veg garden is producing too. However a tip for budding growers ~ don't forget to label if you plant peas and mange tout next to each other!! These could be mange tout or maybe they are peas??
