New Forest Ponies

I've just finished attaching the border to my flowering snowball quilt
Now I have a dilemma.
(the tiny squares joining the blocks are still holes)
Do I go with
my original concept of tonal greys,
or
grey and yellow
or
multi coloured
or
something else?
Quilting
machine narrow lines following the design
or
hand quilted in a lovely jewel colour??
Backing

Binding
???

I like the holes! The view through the tiny little windows was very pretty. Not practical for every day though, I know! I like the idea of the yellow, but that's because I always choose colour if there is an option. Whatever you choose I'm sure will finish it off perfectly. XX

I would use the dark bit from the spotty edging matering to fill the gaps and bind in white or the spotty material again.

Hi I would say another colour could easily be introduced as an accent, it looks lovely jennyx
I'd go for a selection of different greys or a cross hatch black and White. To quilt it, I would be tempted to do on circle, starting in the middle and just getting bigger and bigger.
Would a pop of color be good, such as tomato red or cheddar? Hmmm.
Inspired by the ponies - how about rich dark chocolate - the colour rather than the sweet!

I love your New Forest photos. It's cold here, too - a real shock to my boys, who have forgotten what gloves are for (apparantly). The quilt is looking lovely and I'll look forward to whatever you decide to do with it!

I agree with Dolores. I have enough trouble thinking of how to quilt my own quilts, I don't think I can give you much in the way of suggestions, however I think it would be beautiful hand quilted.
Well, I know I would hand quilt it...but that is a longer task...
I was wondering...what if you go with a mustardy yellow and repeat that in the binding. I thought the border was brown {chocolate} but on my computer now it looks grey. Try auditioning a few fabrics...the right one will pop out at you.

I would resist yellow myself because you know what they say about yellow snow and not eating it. I like the idea of the grey or the pop of color - a hot pink or bright turquoise would get my vote. Beautiful quilt! I am working on a hand pieced quilt similar to this but no little windows.
You are a quilting genius Clare, I love it. I do love your restrained use of colour. I'd probably put red or mustard, but that's me, I can't wait to see what you come up with :)
