Good morning folks.
This was supposed to be a post on the garden
to follow on from the birdwatch.
But who am I trying to kid really?
It's cold out there!
This is more or less how the quilt will look when finished.
There have been many hours of pondering and switching
to the point of insanity.
You see I gave myself a rule of not using a fabric more than once,
well that slipped and now its a free for all.
Just heard the oscar winning composer John Barry has died,
so they are playing the theme from
Out of Africa, on the radio,
it's such a beautiful piece of music.
He was most famous for the James Bond themes.

What an amazing legacy to leave the world..
I wonder what will happen to my creations after I am gone?
When do they become vintage?
Will they be loved?
I must remember to sign them so the next owner
can look me up and read all about my life
here on my little blog!

That is sad about john Barry he did the themes to some of those classic 60's programmes as well. You must sign your work it,s great.In fact you have given me an idea.

It was very sad to hear about John Barry wasn't it. Some great music left as his legacy.
I just love how your quilt is progressing, it is going to look fantastic when finished and yes you must 'sign' it!

These are good thoughts.
I think we have to live like they are heirlooms already, we can't determine how people will treat them in the future, but we can appreciate the beauty, the symbolism and tradition we put into them.
If we love them, then I think there is much more chance of those that love us, coming to love them too.

Goodmorning, I have just popped over fron Dosie Rosie and she mentioned your quilt and signing so i just had to come and have a peep.You must sign your work for the reasons you said,I make a little calico ones or quilters tag and put on the back of mine.With my name the year and sometimes if it took ages how long it took.A darling friend of mine puts who she made it for if it is a gift and I do that too and if it is for one of her grandchildren she puts ( send it home to Grandma to wash) lol as her family will just shove it in the washer lol anyway it is wonderful to think that someone will find it one day look at the dte and wonder about the lovely lady that made it.Have a loveely day.

Your quilt is looking fabulous, definitely an heirloom. My favourite hexagon is the one with the tutti frutti centre, bottom row, 3rd from right.
I'm working on a tiny little bit of a patchwork quilt for a friend but it's a secret project so I can't mention it on my blog. Several of us are hand piecing little stars & squares to make a quilt for a baby due in May, I have to say I prefer crochet - I'm finding the sewing quite fiddly, so I well appreciate the amount of work you'e done.
